Samuel Joseph Lilly

December 9, 1934 — November 24, 2020

Live Stream for the Funeral Mass (click on the blue link) - Funeral Mass Link Samuel was raised by his Father Samuel, and Mother Marie, with 5 other siblings; Marie, Ruthie, Flossie, Julie, and Leon. Dad was the best; Husband to Loretta, Father to Sam, Tony, Debbie, Diane, and Mike, and Grandfather to Chad, Robert, Evan, Nico, Erik, Chris, Tommy, Danny, Matthew, Adam, Rebecca, Bella, and Gabby, and Great Grandfather to Noelle, Natalie, Mason, Emily, Myles, and Kayla. He was simply the best family man! If you knew him, he was quiet, with a little joke mixed in here and there. Always flashing that great smile he had. He was a handsome, humble, proud, strong, honest, hardworking man. He grew up fishing with his father, and family, then later with his sons and grandsons. He was one hell of a baseball player, and loved all sports, watching many championships for several of his Florida Teams, and some from up north. He was thoughtful and generous and would do anything for you. He was an amazing dancer and we will never forget the endless nights listening to him tap dancing on the hardwoods floors in our small house in Hialeah. He would practice for hours on routines for upcoming Christmas shows. When he was young, he tap danced on a TV show, Horn & Hardart Children’s Hour! Recently, Sam and Tony took mom and dad to the Harry Connick Jr. concert, and there was a professional dancer tap dancing on stage. My dad looked at the tap dancer, turned to Tony, and said I could do that, and HE COULD, He was that good! At parties, weddings, any event, he would do all different types of dances with my mom; Tango, Jitterbug, Waltz, Polka, Charleston, Two Step, Merengue, Cha Cha, Twist, Rumba, Ballroom, Swing, Square Dancing. They are all still fresh in our minds. Dad and Mom were a hit at every party and event! For a big guy, he was light on his feet, all moms lady friends wanted to dance with him. He was passionate about his religion, family, dancing, music, sports, fishing, and fixing things. To say he spent countless hours; in a church, Holidays, Birthdays, picnics and barbecues with all his family, watching games on tv, offshore on a boat, in his garage, listening to music, or dancing every chance he had, would be an understatement! Later when Alzheimer’s had really set in, and he couldn’t remember a lot of people, places, or information, he would spend hours saying the rosary with his wife, listening to music, reading the newspaper, and watching tv. Up until the end, he remembered his prayers and his wife, and his feet kept dancing with his hands moving to the music. He will be in our hearts and on our minds, until the end of time! Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10:30 in the morning at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. You will be able to return to this page on Tuesday to view the mass.
