Wendy Dawson Van Gorder

July 29, 1939 — May 23, 2021

Wendy Dawson Van Gorder, age 81, passed away May 23, 2021 at home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Wendy was born on July 29, 1939 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.

She married her husband Henry upon his graduation from West Point in 1961 and became a United States citizen in 1970.  She was a proud Army wife throughout her husband’s career and beyond.

Wendy was a dear friend to many, devoted pet owner, skilled gardener, and loved traveling the world with her family and friends.

Her residences include New York, Kansas, Hawaii, Kentucky, Oklahoma, California, Virginia, Missouri, Rhode Island, Connecticut, South Carolina, Florida, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Wendy is survived by her daughter Lisa Van Gorder Cohen and her husband Steven Cohen, daughter Peggy Van Gorder and her wife Beth Koehler, daughter Heather Van Gorder, granddaughter Gerrianna Cohen, grandson Dawson Cohen, and granddaughter Zoe Blue Van Gorder.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held July 13th, 2021, 10:00 AM, at the Old Cadet Chapel, followed by burial in West Point Cemetery, West Point, NY.
