Virginia Keene

Virginia (Ginny) Keene entered Heaven on March 24 and was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Harold, and cherished son, Gary.  She shall always be remembered for her vivacious personality, caring nature, huge smile and quick wit.  She lives in the hearts of her son Tom (Grace); granddaughters Jessica (Brian) Kubis and Jamie (Giovanni) Santi; great-granddaughters Makayla, Lola, Wyatt and Lucy; sister Shirley (Chris); nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. 

Born in Edgewater, Illinois to Lula and William Prater on May 20, 1924, Ginny began a life filled with love, laughter, fun, and a strong work ethic.  She and Harold were married in 1948 and soon after purchased and operated a grocery store in Chicago.  They moved to Plantation, Florida in 1968 and Ginny began working as an administrative assistant for Broward Estates and Pine Ridge Elementary Schools – a job she loved that gave her the opportunity to interact with hundreds of children throughout the years.  She and Harold actively served in various capacities at Parkway Christian Church and The Worship Center.  Ginny loved big-band music, dancing, reading, doing crossword puzzles and history.  She was an accomplished pianist with a beautiful voice. 

Ginny adored her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.  She touched the life of countless people with her compassion, energy, positivity and loving spirit.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, April 6th, between 5-7 PM and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 7th, at 11 AM at T.M.
