Virginia Hansen

October 3, 1939 — September 27, 2021

On the Evening of September 27 Virginia Gabriel Hansen of Plantation, FL went to be with the Lord at the age of 81. Virginia was born in Cincinnati, OH in 1939 to Ace and Edna Gabriel. She was one of seven children. In September of 1965 she married Henning Hansen, the love of her life. Together they raised three beloved children, Hank, Paula, and Sheila. Virginia devoted her career to caring for others. She was a Health administrator for decades and a member of the Ombudsman Committee which allowed her to advocate for the elderly. Later in her career she became a nurse and worked case management for Aetna. She was an avid reader and collector of books. When she wasn’t reading, she was knitting for her grandchildren. Her evenings were never complete without watching her favorite gameshow, Jeopardy, and loved Turner Movie Classics. She was a long time parishioner at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and attended mass every Saturday. Virginia had a brilliant mind and was endlessly curious about all things. Her most endearing trait of all was how she let her family know they were loved. Virginia is preceded by her parents Ace and Edna Gabriel, her husband Henning Hansen, and siblings Serena, Ron, Paul, and Norman Gabriel. She’s survived by her siblings Alfred Gabriel and Pauline Moeller (Harry), her children Hank Hansen (LeeAnn), Paula VanWinkle (Greg), and Sheila Brown (Michael), her grandchildren Turner Hansen (Alecia), Cassidy Kunkle (Adam), Katie VanWinkle, Morgan Hansen, Christa Brown, Lindsey Hansen, Zachary Brown, Jessica VanWinkle, Megan VanWinkle, Josie Brown, and great grand-child Colt Hansen. Funeral Mass will be held on October 26, 2021 at 11am St. Gregory’s Catholic Church 200 N. University Drive Plantation, FL 33324 In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made in her name to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ 1-800-822-6344
