Tyler Schaefer Remsburg

Tyler Schaefer Remsburg a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, departed this life peacefully on September 12, 2026 at the age of 87 in Plantation, Florida where she lived for 57 years.

Tyler was a beautiful soul who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was known for her distinct southern accent, her quick wit and her ability to light up any room she entered. Tyler was born to the late Orville Florence Tyler and Dr. William Bruce Schaefer in 1939 and was raised in Toccoa, Georgia.

Throughout school she excelled in sports and quickly developed a talent for identifying promising careers. Tyler is credited with helping start the entertainment career of a young aspiring singer at her high school who performed his music at her sweet 16 birthday party. That entertainer became the legendary James Brown and the Flames.

Tyler graduated from Westminster Schools in Atlanta and was the Cherry Blossom Princess representing Georgia for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC. She received her college degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where many lifelong friendships began as a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

A trailblazer in her professional career, Tyler became one of the youngest entertainment casting directors in New York City selecting actors and actresses for national tv commercials and television shows.

After moving to Plantation, Florida with her late husband, Roger Harvey Sr., Tyler started her own business helping new residents moving to South Florida.

Tyler and Roger Sr. enjoyed a wonderful 26 year marriage as they raised their two children, Roger Harvey Jr. of Westfield, IN and Hattie Harvey Hess of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Tyler was very active in a variety of community organizations including First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale where she served as an Elder, Deacon, and was a part of the Stephen Ministry.

Years after the passing of Roger Sr., Tyler married dear family friend, Bruce Remsburg. They enjoyed a wonderful life of travel and entertaining with friends prior to Bruce passing away in 2018.

Tyler was preceded in death by her brother William Bruce Schaefer, Jr. and sister in law Nancy. Tyler is survived by her son Roger, daughter Hattie (Joe), grandchildren Caroline, John, Emily and Tyler as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private service in Toccoa, GA, to honor her life and the impact she made on so many people around her.
