Theresa Foley

Theresa Foley, 86, of Plantation, Florida, peacefully passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, at home with her husband, John, and three sons present.

Born on March 30, 1935 in the Bronx, NY, she was the younger sister to Audrey, 92.  Theresa was a long time parishioner of Holy Family church in the Bronx before marrying John Foley on April 12, 1969 and moving to South Florida.  Theresa’s motherly duty was called upon shortly after getting married and worked as a stay-at-home mother for the rest of her life.  Theresa was known to friends and family as Saint Theresa or Mother Theresa because she was so full of love and always put others before herself.  She raised three sons; John, 51, Steve, 49, and Brian, 47.  In addition to raising her three sons, Theresa was a mother and grandmother figure to so many family members.  She was famous for her ability to soothe any baby by singing “Daisy”.

But her happiest times came in her latter years of life when her youngest son and wife, Lizette, gave her three wonderful granddaughters, Ariel, 17, Liliana, 16, and Kaitlyn, 13.  She loved being a grandma and spending time with her granddaughters.  And likewise, her granddaughters loved being with her.  They loved going to the Plantation Diner with grandma and grandpa after the 10:30 mass and sleeping over at “grandma’s house” every chance they could.

Theresa was a devout Catholic and member of St. Gregory Catholic Church for the past 51 years.  She attended mass daily and generously donated her time and money to the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made to St. Gregory Catholic Church www.saintgreg.org or to Covenant House www.covenanthouse.org.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons and daughter-in-law, John, Steve, and Brian and Lizette; three granddaughters, Ariel, Liliana, and Kaitlyn; and many loving cousins and dear friends. 

Theresa’s wake service will be held, Thursday, July 15^th, 5 pm to 8 pm, at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home, 7001 NW 4^th Street, Plantation, FL 33317. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church in Plantation, FL on Friday, July 16th at 11:00 am.
