Shelma "Shelly" Muscarello, a vibrant spirit who filled the lives of those around her with joy, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Fishers, Indiana, after a long battle with dementia. Born on July 24, 1939, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, Shelly's journey was marked by her zest for life and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Shelly devoted over three decades to her remarkable career as a flight attendant with American Airlines. Her passion for her work saw her continuing to fly well into her later years, retiring at the age of 80—a testament to her boundless energy and love for travel. She carried this same adventurous spirit into her personal story, where she built a beautiful life alongside her beloved husband, Carl Muscarello, with whom she shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they embarked on countless adventures that included travel and celebrating the milestones of those they cherished.
Known for her lively spirit and outgoing personality, Shelly was truly the life of every party. Her extraordinary ability to make those around her feel special brought warmth and spark to each gathering. She had a gift for planning thoughtful surprises, going all out for birthdays and holidays (especially Christmas), and ensuring that every occasion was imbued with her loving touch. Shelly found joy in dancing, singing, shopping, and celebrating life's moments—both big and small. Her sense of style reflected her vibrant nature, as she loved fashion and wore it with flair.
Though she was a true beauty, it was her kind and generous heart that left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Shelly gave freely of herself, always ready to lend a hand or offer comfort without a second thought. Her legacy is one filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Shelly leaves behind her loving family: daughter Lisa Miller; stepchildren Marie Hain and Tony Muscarello; niece Raylene Jarrett; grandchildren AnnaRose Girvin, Grace Muscarello, Olivia Muscarello, Ann Marie Muscarello, Natalie Hain, Steven Hain, Mark McCabe, and Samuel McCabe.
She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Muscarello, mother Louise Hammond, father Raymond Hammond, sister Ida Joyce Jarett, and son Rob McCabe.
As we pause to remember Shelly, let us carry her spirit of joy and generosity in our hearts. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Services to honor Shelly's life will be held on July 25 and July 26, 2025, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the incredible woman that she was.
