Sheila C. Oliveras

Sheila Ann Coughlan Oliveras, born on August 13, 1939, in Waterbury, Connecticut, was called home to heaven on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the age of 87 in Plantation, Florida. She now rejoins her sincerely beloved husband of 39 years, Teddy Oliveras.

Sheila is survived by her three children, Michael T. Oliveras, Maria “Ria” T. Oliveras‑Cooper, and Robert T. Oliveras; five cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Adison, Hagan, Emily, and Mason; one great‑grandchild, Felix; her sister, Margarie Mitchell, 3 nephews; and her lifelong friend, Aprile Guglielmi.

A devoted mother, wife, and retired nurse of 50 years, Sheila lived her life in service to others. A valedictorian of the St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1960 (Waterbury, CT), she went on to build an esteemed career as a Registered Nurse, offering compassionate care and guidance to countless patients, friends, and family members. She was also a steadfast supporter of her husband Teddy throughout his business endeavors, and a nurturing presence to anyone in need. Her family will forever remember her remarkable talent as a seamstress and charmed baking skills—especially her signature sand tart cookies and pumpkin bread.

Sheila was a woman of deep Catholic faith. As one of the founding members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society affiliated with All Saints Catholic Church in Sunrise, Florida, she dedicated the past 20+ years to serving those less fortunate. The generous volunteers of this ministry became her second family—the carriers of her legacy of charity, non‑biased giving, and heartfelt connection with those facing hardship. Through them, her spirit of kindness continues.

Her life was defined by the bonds she created and nurtured, all rooted in her unwavering faith in God and her Catholic community. Sheila will always be remembered for her kindness, warmth, gentle ways, and the quiet strength she brought to every interaction.

Sheila’s return home to God the Father, to whom she devoted her life, leaves a deep and tender void. May that void be filled with good deeds done in her angelic name.
