Seneca Richard Smith Ho Ken, born on February 9, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and connection. From the very beginning, Seneca brought light into the lives of those around him. Born to Marcia Kraft and Patrick Ho Ken, he was raised in Queens, where his early years shaped his deep appreciation for family, culture, and self-expression.
Seneca graduated from Newton High School in Queens, New York, where he began to nurture his creative interests. He later went on to study Computer Animation and Multimedia at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, further cultivating his artistic talents. He was an artist at heart and an avid connoisseur of video games, anime, comics, and of course food that inspired his imagination and reflected his vibrant spirit. His personality was magnetic; he was someone whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to all who knew him.
Professionally, Seneca was a respected and skilled IT professional, known not only for his expertise but also for his leadership and generosity in guiding others. He was deeply admired by colleagues and friends alike, always willing to lend his knowledge and support. As an Information Systems Technician at the Broward Supervisor of Elections, he was devoted to his team and widely supported and respected by those he worked with.
Above all, Seneca was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Iyomi, who brought out the very best in him. Fatherhood was his greatest joy and proudest role. He shared a special bond with his younger sister, Joy, and his younger brother, Raymond “Hans”, whom he loved and cherished deeply. Seneca was also a “big brother” to many, especially his cousins and extended family, offering guidance, protection, and unwavering support throughout his life.
In the summer of 2010, Seneca met Avia. Their connection was immediate and undeniable. After a romantic first date at The Cheesecake Factory, they made their relationship official shortly after. Over the years, they shared a deep love for watching sci-fi movies, laughing at inside jokes, and traveling together, especially taking cruises and creating cherished memories along the way. On December 31, 2023, Seneca married the love of his life. Their 16-year union was a beautiful reflection of enduring love, true partnership, and shared dreams.
Seneca will be remembered for his kindness, creativity, humor, and the deep love he carried for his family and friends. His legacy lives on through those who knew and loved him, and through the countless lives he touched with his light.
He is survived by his loving wife, Avia Ho Ken; his parents, Marcia Kraft and Patrick Ho Ken; his siblings, Joy Fortilus and Raymond Johannes Kraft; and his beloved daughter, Iyomi Ho Ken.
