Sally Jeanne Leith Beals of North Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on September 7, 1934, in Butler, Pennsylvania, Sally made friends everywhere she went, sharing joy and love with her smile, and her kindness.
Sally graduated from Butler Area Joint High School in 1952, and from Slippery Rock State Teachers College (now Slippery Rock University) in 1956. She taught elementary school for decades, winning Teacher of the Year for 1993-94, while at Pinewood Elementary. She cared about all her students, and even though she retired in 1997, she never tired of talking to little ones.
Sally loved people of all ages, and she shared her warmth with her church family at Plantation Presbyterian Church, which she attended with her beloved husband of 62 years, Bob, who passed away in February.
Not only a gifted teacher, Sally shared other interests that brought happiness to others. She was a talented baker who became well-known for her cakes - especially her orange cake. Sally also adored music, and sang in several choruses and choirs, including the church’s chancel choir. And she loved animals, making the lives of those in her care special.
Sally is survived by her beloved sister, Nancy Bonnett, her daughter Beth Doubleday, and her son-in-law Doug Doubleday.
Donations may be made to the church or to Alley Cat Allies, a rescue charity.
