Ronald George Doenig “Ron”

If you asked Ron what mattered most to him in life, the answer was simple: his faith, family, and people.

He was born on August 11, 1950, in Alma, Georgia. Ron was the “best beloved adopted son” of George and Lillian Doenig.

Ron lived in Plantation almost all of his life. After graduating from Plantation High School in 1968, he joined the family sewing machine business where he worked for many years. In 1989 Ron began his career in the elevator industry by working for Miami Elevator as a repair man. He retired from the industry as an elevator inspector for Broward County.

Ron coached youth baseball, he served as a medicine man and sachem in Indian Princesses and Indian Guides, he faithfully served as a deacon at Parkway Christian Church for years. One of his favorite things was playing Santa Claus for the church and for the YMCA.

Ron was a deeply devoted family man. He married Janet Schneider on January 22, 1977, at Parkway Christian Church, in Plantation, Florida, and for nearly fifty years she remained his “lovely, lovely wife.” Together they built a life filled with faith, laughter, and family. Ron claimed the title of “El Supremo” for himself although everyone knew he affectionately called Janet the “Boss Lady.”

Together, they raised three wonderful children: Jessica Buendia; Nicholas Doenig and his wife, Natalee (Elhart); and Benjamin Doenig and his wife, Nicole (Murphy). They were also blessed with six wonderful grandchildren. Occasionally as Ron watched the beautiful chaos of family gatherings he would turn to Janet and wonder, “What have we wrought?” Those moments were what he loved the most.

He died on June 22, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 75. He leaves behind a family that adored him, countless friends, and a legacy of kindness, faith, humor, and unwavering love.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
