Robert (Bob) John Zangara, born on February 12, 1957, departed this life on June 12, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering service to his community and family. Bob’s journey on this earth was marked by his extraordinary energy and vibrant personality, which endeared him to everyone who crossed his path.
Bob served proudly in the United States Army, where he undertook several roles including military police and fatal accident investigator, with a notable tour in Panama. His service was characterized by an unwavering commitment to duty, earning him numerous accommodations throughout his military career. Upon his retirement from the military, he dedicated his life to public service as a policeman for both Wilton Manors and the Broward Sheriff's Office, continuing to uphold the values of honesty and loyalty that defined him. Later, he served as the Operations Manager at Sal's Towing before starting his own painting business in North Carolina and Florida. Bob remained an active community member, dedicating his time to the Green Haven 12 HOA, where he most recently served as Vice President.
Family was always at the forefront of Bob’s life. He took immense pride in raising his daughters, Suzanne and Johanna Zangara, as a devoted single father. Memories of holidays, especially Christmas Eve, were cherished by Bob, who loved cooking, baking, and preparing for the festive occasion alongside his family. Saturdays were sacred, marked by football in the fall and fishing later on; these activities brought him joy, and he was often seen with a smile while involved in them. Evenings spent cooking with "his girls" and watching their favorite television shows were among his happiest moments, illustrating the warm and nurturing home he created.
Bob is survived by his beloved daughters, Suzanne and Johanna, and his brother, Joseph Zangara. He also leaves behind his cherished nephews, John & Joseph Zangara and Mark & Kyle Sloat, who were important figures in his life.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving parents, Margaret and John Zangara, and his sisters, Barbara and Maria Zangara, who remained in his heart as he navigated life without them.
Visitation will take place on June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston, located at 371 NW 136th Ave, Sunrise, FL 33325.
