Robert F. Tatarka, 79, of Plantation, Florida, formerly of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023, in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. Born in Perth Amboy, Robert was a lifelong resident, before moving to Florida in 2019 to escape the cold weather and snow. He worked at JM Fields in Hazlet and, OK Electric in Perth Amboy in shipping and receiving for most of his life. He was an active member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. He is a Life Member of San Salvador Council for Knights of Columbus Council #299 and a 4th degree member of Assembly #674. He also served as a Committeeman for the Republican Party for over 20 years. He was an active member of the Seniors at Holy Trinity Church. He was also an avid reader and loved to travel. Robert is survived by his siblings, Maryann Swiderski, Raymond Tatarka and his wife Sandra and Paul Tatarka and his wife Karen; his nephews and nieces, Stephen Tatarka and his wife Kelly and Patrick and Emily Tatarka, Kari Anne Headings and her husband Chuck and Jennifer Kiar and her husband Marc, and; his great nephews and nieces, Anthony, Amy, Alice, Luke, Kate and TJ. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, June 10th, with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial from St. James RC Church, Woodbridge, with interment to follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 9th, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Zylka Funeral Home, 513 State Street, Perth Amboy. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Robert's memory may be made to the Lori S. Marciniak Nursing Scholarship at www.lsmnursingscholarship.com.
