Born in Matanzas, Cuba, Rita embarked on a courageous journey to the United States in the 1960s, where she would build a beautiful life filled with love, dedication, and unwavering family devotion.

Rita was united in marriage to the love of her life, Miguel Socorro, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of partnership, laughter, and deep commitment. Together, they created a warm and loving home that became the foundation for their growing family.

As a mother, Rita was the heart of her household, raising her children with boundless love, wisdom, and strength. She is survived by her beloved husband Miguel; her son Julio Socorro; her daughter Jennifer Acevedo; and her cherished granddaughter Natalia Rhiannon Acevedo, who brought immense joy to her final years.

Rita’s life was a testament to the power of love and family. She embraced every role with grace and dedication - as a wife who stood beside her husband through all of life’s seasons, as a mother who nurtured and guided her children with patient care, and as a grandmother who delighted in watching the next generation grow. Her extended family knew her as a loving sister, daughter, and aunt who always made time for those she held dear.

Rita’s legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the love she shared, and the memories she created with each person whose life she touched. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit continues to guide and comfort her family, and her memory will be treasured forever.

She is missed but never forgotten by her family.
