Richard (Dick) Gilbert Greenawalt, 88, of Davie, Florida, passed August 25, 2023 with his family by his side. Dick was dedicated to his family who dearly loved him.  He is survived by his wife, Sue, his daughters Deborah Rabinowitz and Diane Cellura (Steve Boucher);  brothers Rev. James Greenawalt and Robert Greenawalt; his grandchildren, Geoffrey Rabinowitz (Tanya), Stephen Rabinowitz, Brian Rabinowitz (Ariel), Jordan Greenawalt (Grace), Frank Inzerillo (Gigi), and Melissa Inzerillo; great grandchildren Miles Rabinowitz, Max Rabinowitz, Rowan Rabinowitz, Henry Rabinowitz, Levi Inzerillo, and Leighland Inzerillo; step-children Kimberly Steward (Frank), Lisa Miller (Brent), Thomas S. Fassanella (Shannon); step grandchildren Kyle Steward, Cole Steward, Cameron Miller, Kendall Miller, Brennan Fassanella and Riley Fassanella.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Greenawalt, his son, David Greenawalt, his grandson, Brandon Greenawalt, his sister, Dorothy Lowder, brother-in-law, James Lowder, sister Edna Kaniper, sisters-in-law Alice Greenawalt and Nancy Greenawalt and several nieces and nephews.

After graduating Vermillion High School in Ohio, Dick went on to attend college at the University of Cincinnati and then obtaining his degree at the University of Tampa, Tampa, Florida.

Dick was a Certified Public Accountant working many years in his own practice.

He was a friend to everyone who knew and loved him.  He was a man of deep faith and committed to helping everyone. Dick’s father, Norman Greenawalt, was a Minister and his mother, Norma Greenawalt, was a school teacher (both previously deceased).  Dick was an avid sports fan, and particularly loved the Florida Gators, Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins.

A private Celebration of Life will be planned for the future.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70th Avenue, Plantation, Florida. Donations will be used for creating a Prayer Garden dedicated to the Greenawalt Family.
