Kenneth became a true pillar of the Moneague community—widely respected for his generosity, neighborly spirit, and legendary problem-solving skills.
Kenneth W. Cochrane, a devoted minister, skilled engineer, and beloved patriarch, passed away peacefully at the age of 95.
Born in Cuba on April 22, 1931, to Thomas and Ruth Cochrane, Kenneth was the sixth of eight siblings. At the age of eight, his family relocated to Westmoreland, Jamaica, settling in the village of Frome. A talented athlete and dedicated student, Kenneth excelled in cricket and football while completing his studies at the Knockalva Agricultural School in Hanover.
Kenneth began his professional journey at Reynolds Jamaica Mines, during which time he met his wife, Hazel. Together, they built a family and raised six children. In search of new horizons and greater opportunities for his family, Kenneth immigrated to Queens, New York, in the 1960s. Five years later, during a visit to Jamaica, he accepted a promotion at Reynolds Jamaica Mines, prompting his return home. He served with distinction as a mechanical engineer and supervisor in the Heavy Duty Equipment Department until his retirement in the 1980s.
Following his engineering career, Kenneth answered a higher calling within the Anglican Church. He pursued theological studies at the Jamaica Church Theological College. Rev. Kenneth Cochrane was ordained as a Deacon in July 1989 and as a Priest in July 1990. He faithfully pastored the Blackstonedge Church, Christ Church Moneague, and several churches across the Diocese of Jamaica.
He was a constant source of support for those around him.
