Ramona Pena, age 101, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Born on August 31, 1924, in La Vega, Dominican Republic, Ramona lived an extraordinary life marked by love, generosity, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. She worked as a laboratory technician at G & W Laboratory in Plainfield, New Jersey, for more than 25 years, but her greatest life's work was caring for those around her.
Ramona was the heart and matriarch of her family. Her home was always open, and everyone who entered was welcomed as family. She expressed her love through her food, her faith, and the countless stories she shared. She possessed remarkable strength, enduring years of physical pain, yet she never lost her wicked sense of humor, even in the hardest moments. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.
Ramona is survived by her beloved husband, Jesus Pena; her daughter, Johana Vallejos; her sons, Luis Pena, Andy Pena, and Pablo Pena; her sibling, Jose Dolores Concepcion; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Fernando Pena, and her daughter, Altagracia Rosa.
Though she will be profoundly missed, her legacy of love, strength, faith, laughter, and compassion will remain with her family for generations to come.
