Opalene Childs Ray, 82, of Sunrise, Florida passed away peacefully at home May 23, 2020. Opal was born in Clay County, Alabama on May 3, 1938. She was raised in LaGrange, GA and moved to Broward County in 1965. Opal retired as President of Fort Lauderdale News/Sentinel Graphics Federal Credit Union after having spent over 30 years with the organization. After retiring, Opal split her time between Sunrise, Florida and Dahlonega, Georgia where she enjoyed yard work, her dogs Sammie and Leelo, and spending time with family and friends. Opal is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Zillie Childs and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother William “Morgan” Childs, her children Mike and Debbi, Donna and Dave, Linda and Dan, Charles, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 27th 2:00 - 4:00 pm at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston 371 NW 136th Avenue Sunrise, FL 33325.
