Minerva "Minnie" Hernandez, a radiant spirit known for her cheerful disposition and boundless generosity, passed away on February 26, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born on January 25, 1957, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she made her mark on the world not only through her illustrious career but also through the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
Minnie dedicated much of her professional life to the fast-paced world of stock trading, working with esteemed companies such as Security Specific, Mabon Nugent, and Credit Suisse on Wall Street in New York. Displaying an unyielding commitment to service, she also came out of retirement to lend her expertise to the judges of the Florida court system, showcasing her unwavering desire to help others. Her contributions to charity organizations further illustrated her caring nature and the impact she sought to make in her community.
In her personal life, Minnie's zest for living was contagious. She delighted in festivities, often organizing gatherings with family and friends where laughter flowed as freely as the drinks. Minnie had a special fondness for dining out at her favorite restaurants, happily rating dishes alongside her husband, indulging in her love for Mexican cuisine, and enjoying a glass of tequila. Her adventurous spirit was evident in her passion for cruising and participating in the New York Marathons, where she embraced the thrill of the race.
Minnie cherished her familial bonds, often making the most whimsical gestures to celebrate her loved ones. She displayed her affection in charming ways, such as printing pictures of her beloved "fur grandkids" on her luggage and creating custom pillows adorned with family photos. Memories of her joyful trips to Bingo and Lotteria with her older sister Haydee will forever resonate in the hearts of her loved ones, each moment reflecting the warmth and laughter that Minnie inspired.
She is survived by her sisters Rosa, Carmen, Haydee, and her brothers Victor and Carlos, and David, who will carry her memory forward, celebrating the legacy of love and kindness she left behind. Though Minnie's sisters Antonia and Ismenia have preceded her in death, their collective spirit will intertwine with the cherished tapestry of family and memories Minnie has created throughout her life.
A visitation and prayer service will be held for Minnie on March 5, 2026, at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home in Plantation, Florida—where many will gather to honor a life well-lived, reflecting on the countless ways she lit up the world around her.
Minnie Hernandez was indeed a ray of sunshine wherever she went, and her joyous spirit will forever remain ingrained in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
