Mary Josephine (Mary Jo) Perrone, age 93, of Dover, Delaware, formerly a longtime resident of Plantation, Florida, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on September 1, 2026.
Born on May 26, 1933, Mary Jo lived a life defined by elegance and grace, and profound care for others. In her early adulthood, she took to the skies as an airline stewardess during the golden age of aviation, a role that highlighted her poise and love for people. She later channeled her nurturing spirit into a lifelong career as a registered nurse, serving her community with deep compassion. In 1956, she wed the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" Perrone. Together, they built a beautiful life anchored in faith, service, and love, with Chuck serving proudly as a police officer with the Florida Marine Patrol.
Mary Jo's life was a testament to selfless devotion. She stood as a pillar of strength, lovingly caring for Chuck through a long, courageous battle with cancer until his passing in February 1995. Following his loss, she continued her legacy of unconditional care, dedicating the next thirty years to protecting and supporting her family. She enjoyed tennis, swimming and was a very avid reader. A woman of deep and unwavering Catholic faith, Mary Jo was a devoted parishioner and active Eucharistic minister at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, Florida, where she shared the comfort of Christ with countless others and formed a cherished bond with the Reverend Monsignor Edmond Prendergast.
Mary Jo later relocated to Dover, Delaware to be closer to her son and his family. In her final years, she found absolute safety, comfort, and dignity, surrounded by the deep love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Charles "Chuck" Perrone; her parents, Joseph and Mary Kuzma; her brother, John Kuzma; and her sisters, Louise Lukachko, Josephine Lashanski and Elizabeth (Betty) Ondish.
She is survived by her devoted son, Thomas Perrone and his wife, Edna, of Dover,
Delaware; her daughter, Yvonne Perrone, and her cherished grandchildren, Paul Perrone and his wife Amanda, and Nichole Everitt and her husband Edwin; She is also survived by her brother, Bernard Kuzma of Florida; her sisters, Frances Poluski of Wyoming, PA, and Alice Adamchick of Forty Fort, PA; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo will be returned home to Florida to rest reunited alongside her beloved
Chuck In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Bonaventure Catholic Parish (Davie, FL) to support the parish community she loved so dearly or to Delaware Hospice in grateful appreciation for the compassionate care provided.
