In Loving Memory of Mary Anna “Ann” Martin
Mary Anna “Ann” Martin passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, kindness, and friendship that touched countless lives.
Ann was born on January 31, 1936, at North Hudson Hospital in Weehawken, New Jersey. She was baptized on July 4, 1936, at Our Lady of Grace Church. Raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, Ann attended North Bergen Public School and graduated from Cliffside High School in 1954.
After graduation, Ann began her career as a bookkeeper with Maloney, Regan & Schmitt in New York City. In 1967, she moved to Hollywood, Florida, where she built a life filled with hard work, devotion, and meaningful relationships. For many years, she worked as a waitress at Denny’s, where her warm smile and welcoming nature made a lasting impression on customers and coworkers alike. She retired from that position in the early 1990s.
In 1994, Ann began a second career with the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, serving as an Accounting Specialist in the Probation Department. She dedicated 23 years of service to the organization before retiring in 2017, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues through her professionalism, dedication, and integrity.
Faith was at the center of Ann’s life. As an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Plantation, Florida, she generously shared her time and talents with her parish community. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing comfort and companionship to homebound parishioners. She also assisted with preparing for Mass and was deeply involved in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). She served quietly by providing coffee and refreshments to those who were seeking to learn about the Catholic Faith and guided and sponsored several individuals as they entered the Catholic Church. Her faith was not simply something she practiced—it was something she lived every day through her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others.
Ann was a vibrant and active woman who treasured her many friendships. She loved spending time with friends, sharing laughter, stories, and life’s special moments. Her caring spirit, gentle heart, and genuine interest in others made her a beloved friend to many.
An enthusiastic animal lover, she shared her life with many beloved pets over the years. Each one was fortunate to receive her love and care.
Ann is survived by her extended family in New Jersey and by dear friends who were enriched by her friendship and kindness. She will be remembered as being a humble woman with deep faith, and a strong work ethic. Her life was a beautiful example of kindness, devotion, and love. She shared the depths of her faith in small group settings and by the example of her life.
Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
May she rest in the peace of God’s eternal embrace
