Martha Moreau, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Plantation, Florida, at the age of 92. Born in 1933 in St. Louis du Nord, Haiti, and raised in Port-de-Paix, Martha lived a life marked by resilience, generosity, and quiet strength.
After graduating from high school, she pursued work as a seamstress, using her skill and creativity to support herself and her family. In 1965, Martha migrated to New York in search of better opportunities. Through determination and hard work, she was able to reunite her family, bringing her four children to live with her by 1971.
Martha held many roles throughout her life—from factory worker to babysitter—but found particular pride in her work at American Express. In 1976, she accepted a company relocation to Florida, where she purchased a home in Plantation and remained for the rest of her life. She retired early after nearly two decades of service, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and grace.
Retirement offered Martha the chance to embrace her passions. She found joy in gardening, transforming her backyard into a vibrant haven of vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Her garden was not only a source of pride, but a gathering place for family—filled with laughter, love, and the occasional warning not to “mess up her plants!”
Martha will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her nurturing spirit, and the quiet dignity with which she lived. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
