Marie Elinor Heine entered eternal rest with Jesus on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at age 95. Marie was born to Elmer and Margaret Stensrud on August 22, 1929 in Plymouth, MI. On September 8,1929 she became a child of God when her parents had her baptized as an infant into the Christian faith and confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ her Savior when she was a teenager. She learned her love of the outdoors, fly fishing and fly tying from her father. Her mother taught her how to grow a garden, canning, cooking, baking (especially cookies), sewing, knitting, crocheting, and how to manage a home. She lived with her grandmother in Saginaw, MI so she could attend Michigan Lutheran Seminary where she excelled in art classes. On November, 25 1950; during a raging blizzard, she married Dallas Heine and they were blessed with 69 years of marriage.
Over the years Marie worked a number of jobs outside of the home, most notably was her success at selling Avon products. This gave her opportunity to develop many good friendships with women in the neighborhood. Her last job, before retiring to their little cabin in the woods, was at a party store that specialized in wine sales. She loved going to wine tastings and learning the different nuances of the wine she was selling. Marie’s children say the thing that she excelled at the most was raising them to love Jesus and preparing them for life. No matter what organization she was involved in or jobs she worked, she was always there for her children. She greatly blessed them with her many prayers.
God blessed Marie with many talents and her talent at painting with water color and pen and ink drawings was her greatest passion. She has created many beautiful paintings especially of God’s creation which her family loves to display in their homes.
Marie lived her life as a loving servant of the Lord. She served her Lord by leading Vacation Bible School, Project Philip prison ministry, Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League, Woman’s Bible Study classes, serving along side her husband for the Lutheran Laymen’s League, singing duets in church with daughter, being a part of a singing group that led midweek services, and in her last years writing prayers and reading them before meals at Covenant Living of Florida. She read her Bible every day and was an example to all who met her of how to walk with Jesus.
She is survived by her children Darryl (Joyce) Heine, Brad Heine, Anne (Tim) Czap, Mark (Anne) Heine, Gleason Heine, Rebecca (Steve) Kurkowski; siblings David (Laura) Stensrud, Gretchen Klimek and sister-in-law Donna Stensrud; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Dallas; siblings Edgar (Phylis) Stensrud, Donald Stensrud, sister-in-law Betty Stensrud, brother-in-law Jim Klimek; daughters-in-law Janie Heine and Sandy Heine; and great granddaughter Haley Apple.
