Margaret Ellen (Hobbs) Rodgers, age 95, of Weston, FL passed away on September 5, 2024.
Margaret “Maggie” was born in Charlotte, NC on May 23, 1929, to the late Wilton Howard and Margaret Allen Hobbs. She attended Central High School and Peace College where she was President of her graduating class. She married her high school sweetheart Bill, and they celebrated 71 glorious years of marriage. She worked as a secretary before becoming a stay-at-home mom caring for their three children. Together they raised their family in Dearborn Heights, MI before moving to Venice, FL where they spent their retirement years golfing, boating and cruising the world. Maggie was a faithful servant of the Lord and enjoyed her Bible study groups. In her youth she enjoyed horseback riding on the family farm. She was a volunteer at the local hospital and enjoyed gardening. Maggie also enjoyed her social activities of golf league and bridge club. Mostly she loved to visit with family and friends whenever possible.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Glenn “Bill” William Rodgers Jr, her parents and two brothers Allen Marcellus Hobbs and Thomas Howard Hobbs. She is survived by daughters Amy Byrne (Frank) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Glenda Taylor of Weston, FL and her son David Rodgers (Nancy) of Canton, MI; grandchildren Ryan Taylor, Daryl Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Kate Snabes (Erik), Daniel Byrne (Amanda), Sarah Renken (Corey), Matthew Rodgers, Amanda Rodgers; great grandchildren Samantha Taylor, Andy Taylor, Sofia Taylor, Peyton Snabes, Reese Snabes, William Byrne, Jordan Byrne, Caroline Byrne, Logan Byrne, Kenley Renken and Brody Renken.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 2pm - 6pm at the T. M. Ralph Funeral Home, 371 NW 136th Ave, Sunrise, FL 33325. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church at Weston on September 15, 2024 at 2:00pm, 1420 Indian Trace, Weston, FL 33326.
To honor her wishes, the family requests those attending her service wear colors instead of black to represent the hope we have in Christ.
The family invites everyone to a reception immediately following the service.
