Lou passed away November 18,2025.
Born May 23, 1935 to Lou and Madelyn Toman in Trenton, New Jersey. The family moved to Coral Gables, Florida when he was young. After high school, they moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida. He attended the University of Florida for two years, then took a summer job at the Fort Lauderdale News known today as the Sun Sentinel in the Photography Department. He never returned to school and retired from the Sun Sentinel 53 years later.
He was a Reserve Police Officer with the Plantation Police Department in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
After retirement, he worked part time for Auto Nation, volunteered at the Sheriff’s Department and joined a gun club. He enjoyed everything he did in life. He was a people person. He liked everybody.
He is survived by wife Donna, eldest son Craig (Jennifer) and youngest son Phil. Brother-in-law Fred (Kelly), niece Cathy, nephew Fred (Alyssa) and their son Tyson.
There will be a Celebration of Life December 13, 2025 at the Plantation Preserve in Plantation, Florida from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
