It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Daley, a woman whose life was defined by love, compassion, and warmth. She was born on August 12, 1951, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, to the late Bertha Desmarais and Richard Griffin. She went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2026.

She dedicated 32 years of her career to BellSouth, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She had a special way of making people feel valued, and her kindness and genuine spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She made everyone feel loved, special, and at home.

She was proud of her French Canadian heritage and carried that pride with her throughout her life. She cherished her friendships, loved playing mahjong, and found joy in both the simple and special moments in life—from shopping and everyday activities to exciting adventures shared with her beloved husband. She especially loved the beach and spending time by the water. Holidays were especially meaningful to her—she had a way of making them feel like magic—and she never needed a reason to bring family and friends together to celebrate.

She had a passion for travel and collected special treasures along the way, proudly displaying them in her home as reminders of the places she had been and the memories she had made. She also adored her dog Molly—who was so loved she even had birthday parties—and her cats, Billy and Barney, who, in true fashion, seemed to charm their way into her heart as a “package deal,” convincing her they simply belonged together.

She shared a one-of-a-kind bond with her three sisters—four completely different personalities that somehow fit together perfectly. Whether it was laughter, stories, or just being together, their connection was something special. She had her own special bond with each of them and loved them deeply.

Her greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren—they were truly her life. She was always present and involved, volunteering at concession stands, coaching youth baseball, softball, and cheerleading, and attending countless school events and extracurricular activities. She loved to volunteer and be a part of every moment, always cheering on and supporting those she loved.

She was warm, kind, and deeply caring—someone who made everyone feel welcome and loved. She will be missed more than words can express.

She was predeceased by her mother, Bertha Desmarais (“Mum 2”), and her father, Rollie Desmarais.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Daley, with whom she shared 55 years of a truly happy marriage. She is also survived by her children, Stacey Daley (Brandon Walker) and her son, Ryan Harvey; and Eric Daley (Denise Daley), and their children, Keaton Daley (Lexi Daley) and Kylie Daley.

She is also survived by her sisters, Cynthia Valliere, Rebecca Valenza Gale (Tom Gale), and Sharon Woodside (Bob Woodside).

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and “Mum.” She touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered always. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will live on in all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on May 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church (2533 SW 9th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315).

Following the Mass, there will be a brief private viewing before the public visitation.

Visitation will take place on May 2, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home (7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation, FL 33317).

All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. If you are unable to attend the Funeral Mass, you are warmly invited to join at the visitation.

Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Kids In Distress.

You are our sunshine, our only sunshine. You make us happy when skies are gray. You will never know, dear, how much we love you. Your sunshine will live on in all of us, always.
