Larry had a gift for making everyone feel like family.

Larry C. Bowen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on April 11, 1947, Larry’s life was one woven with integrity, hard work, and unfailing devotion to the people he cherished.

Larry’s journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to serving and uplifting others. For 46 remarkable years, he worked as a State Farm Agent, building not just a career but a legacy grounded in honesty and trust. Clients who came to Larry seeking guidance often left with more than just an insurance policy—they carried with them a sense of being truly seen and valued, as Larry had a gift for making everyone feel like family. His honesty was his signature, and those fortunate enough to know him understood that his word was his bond.

Beyond his professional life, Larry found joy and fulfillment in giving back to his community. He dedicated time as an FHSAA Referee, sharing his love of sports, fair play, and mentorship with countless young athletes. His robust laughter was often heard from the sidelines, and his insightful storytelling—always sprinkled with a lesson or two—became the stuff of legend among players and coaches alike.

Larry also served his country with pride as a member of the Florida National Guard, embodying the same virtues of commitment, discipline, and loyalty that characterized every aspect of his life.

Recognition as Parents of the Year at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Grandparents of the Year at Saint Gregory Catholic School were honors he cherished.

At the heart of Larry’s world was his family. He shared a lasting, loving partnership with his wife, Judy Bowen, whose unwavering support and companionship were the foundation on which they built their life together. As a father, Larry was endlessly proud of his two sons, Brad Bowen and Jamie Bowen, treasuring their achievements and guiding them with wisdom and kindness. His heart overflowed with joy for his granddaughter, Brooke Bowen, whose presence brought light and laughter to his later years.

Among Larry’s proudest accomplishments were being the father of two sons and a devoted grandfather. Recognition as Parents of the Year at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Grandparents of the Year at Saint Gregory Catholic School were honors he cherished, reflections of the deep love and commitment he poured into his family life. But perhaps what truly set Larry apart was the warmth of his spirit—a man who delighted in telling stories, sharing both the joyous and challenging moments of his life with humor, humility, and honesty.

Those who knew Larry will remember him not only for what he did but for who he was: honest and trustworthy, always ready with a gentle word or an infectious smile, ever eager to lend a helping hand or share a favorite memory.

A visitation in honor of Larry’s life will be held on August 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, located at 7001 NW 4th St, Plantation, FL 33317. A prayer service will take place at the same venue at 6:00 PM. A Mass celebrating Larry’s life will be held at Saint Gregory Catholic Church, 200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324, on August 28, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

But perhaps what truly set Larry apart was the warmth of his spirit—a man who delighted in telling stories, sharing both the joyous and challenging moments of his life with humor, humility, and honesty.

Larry’s life was a tapestry of love, dedication, service, and joy. He leaves behind an enduring legacy in the hearts of all who knew him. His stories, his values, and his warmth will remain treasures to those mourning his passing and celebrating the beautiful, generous life he lived.
