Kevin Henry Michielsen

Kevin Henry Michielsen, 57, passed away on February 14, surrounded by his loving family. Kevin’s life was marked by a remarkable breadth of experiences, unwavering determination, and a unique spirit of adventure. Born to a Spanish mother and Dutch father in Venezuela, he was immersed in a wide range of cultural environments from birth. At age 17, Kevin moved to the United States to pursue higher education. His time began in Boston, where he independently financed his undergraduate degree by managing the nightclub Avenue C, among other projects. Kevin graduated from Bentley University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting in 1992. He went on to pursue an MBA at the University of Michigan, where he met his future wife, Mary Pino Jiménez.

Following graduation, Kevin began his career in global consulting at McKinsey & Company, holding positions in Europe and Latin America. Kevin then co-founded ProcuraDigital, a startup based in Miami, Florida, before moving to New York City with Mary Pino to start their family. While raising daughters Ana Lucía and Elena, Kevin and Mary Pino shared a love of travel, culture, and educational pursuits, instilling in their family the spirit of curiosity and exploration. Kevin served as Chief Executive Officer at Watermark and LRN, providing steady and thoughtful leadership throughout periods of rapid growth and transformation. In the office, Kevin inspired those around him to achieve their goals and shared his wisdom and experience widely. He was a humorous and adventurous companion, and a lifelong learner with a passion for discovery. He will be remembered for his determination, generosity, and inquisitive nature, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, María del Pino Jiménez, and his two daughters, Ana Lucía and Elena Michielsen Jiménez.
