Mr. Kenneth “Kenty” Winthrop Perkins parted with his time on earth on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. His life will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Kenty was born on December 28, 1939 in  Port of Spain, Trinidad to the late Coban and Victorine Perkins.  The Perkins family was originally from Barbados. The family moved to Barbados for 3 ½ years, but they soon returned to Trinidad to care for Kenty’s ailing grandmother.

In 1963, Kenty married Andrea Charles.  They had two boys Warren and Wayne.  He moved to St. Thomas V.I. in 1966 where he worked for Coca Cola for two years.  He then moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1968, where he studied for his profession as a plumber and worked at the Brooklyn Navy Shipyard.  He later sent for his wife and two sons who had remained behind in Trinidad.  In Brooklyn, his third child, Fitima was born.  In 1982, Kenty’s final move was to Florida.

While in Trinidad, Kenty was a member of the Silver Stars Steel Orchestra. In Florida, Kenty was well known amongst the Trinidadian community and could be seen at many fetes and Carnivals.  He loved Carnival and Steel Pan and all that came with it.  He along with his family were very active participants in the Miami Carnival.  He was a friend to many and enjoyed his life.

Kenty leaves behind his wife Andrea, son Wayne, daughter Fitima and three beautiful grandchildren, Jaedon, Julien and Juel.  He was preceded in death by his eldest son Warren and brother Lennie Perkins. He also leaves behind his sister Laura Salisbury and brother Carlyle Perkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins (Saunders Family).
