Keith John Grimson

May 21, 1930 — July 12, 2023

Davie

Keith John Grimson (93), of Davie, Florida, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 at 4:26pm, which was July 13, 2023 at 6:26am in Australia.

Keith was born May 21, 1930 in Hornsby, NSW, Australia, the middle child of three to Stephen Charles Gordon Grimson and Winifred Florence Grimson.

Keith attended North Sydney Technical College in Australia, and was also a Ballroom Dancing Instructor at The Cabaret in Hornsby, NSW, Australia, where he met Patricia Grimson. Keith and Patricia married in 1958.

Keith was a remarkable man and master craftsman in his trade. Keith only had 2 full time jobs his entire life, which speaks to the type of man he was. Keith began his career at Halvorsen's in Ryde, NSW, Australia, as an Apprentice at the young age of 15 and worked his way up to Master Boat Builder until age 45. Keith was asked to build a 72 ft yacht for Deiter Cosman that owned Bradford Marine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Cosman liked his workmanship so much that he asked Keith to come work for him in Florida. Keith accepted his offer and moved to Florida in October 1975 on his own for 5 months until his wife, Patricia Grimson, and his daughter, Karen E Grimson Bryant, could join him in March 1976. Keith worked for Bradford Marine from age 45 until he retired at the amazing age of 83. The boss told him he wasn't allowed to retire until he (Mr. Cosman) was 6ft under. Keith held up his end of the bargain. Mr. Cosman passed away at the age of 94, so Keith retired on what would have been Mr. Cosman’s 95th birthday, May 22, 2013, which was a day after Keith turned 83.

Keith was an amazing pencil and charcoal artist and he won many awards in ballroom dancing and art. When Keith moved to Florida he found another love, horses, even though he did own horses in Australia. His first horse in Florida was a Paso Fino Stallion named Pico, which he loved to ride and take to shows. His new love of horses grew and Keith and Patricia purchased a horse farm in Davie, Florida where he lived out his life.

Keith was a dedicated and hard working man to his family, job and the farm. There was nothing that Keith could not do, be it mechanics, electrical, plumbing, construction, tile work, and so much more. He was also a perfectionist.

Keith was loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He was a man of very little words, but had a dry sense of humor that would make you fall on the floor laughing. He was sharp and quick witted, even in his last days. Keith is missed and loved by all.

He is predeceased by his father, Stephen Charles Gordon Grimson, his mother, Winifred Florence Grimson, his Brother Reginald Gordon Grimson, his nephews Terrence Grimson, David Grimson and Bradley Lewington. He is survived by his wife Patricia Grimson, his daughter Karen Grimson Bryant, his granddaughter, Amanda Martinez, his sister Yvonne Lewington nee Grimson and several nieces and nephews.
