Joyce L. Jansen, born on December 18, 1930, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, under the care of Hospice. She was the cherished daughter of Elma and Ernest Waller. Throughout her adult life, Joyce held a variety of jobs, but her career as a Flight Attendant was particularly significant to her. While working for Eastern Airlines, she met her beloved husband, Leon, who was also an employee of the airline. Joyce devoted approximately eleven years to her role as a Flight Attendant before deciding to leave the airline and focus on starting a family with Leon. Together, they became parents to three sons—Ronald, Gregory, and David—all born in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1969, the family moved to Plantation, Florida, following Leon’s transfer to Miami with Eastern Airlines. Joyce was deeply engaged in her community and participated in multiple organizations, including the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the Red Hats. Among her activities, Joyce’s favorite was the sixteen-plus years she spent volunteering at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. She found extraordinary joy in being part of the arts community and in experiencing the diverse performances offered at the center.
In Lieu of Flowers the family request that donations be made to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
