Joseph Vincent Priore

Joseph Vincent Priore, Esq. was finally freed from pain on October 10, 2025, after an 8-year long battle with cancer. He approached it like many things in his life - with unmatched and unrelenting mental fortitude. This is only one of the reasons that you cannot sum up what he meant to so many people in just a few paragraphs. 

You always knew where you stood with Joe. Those who are lucky enough to call him family or friend understood that his loyalty and love were unwavering. He was the one who everyone reached out to when they had a problem because of his innate ability to break down a situation. He would dispense legal advice (in his ‘lawyer voice’) as easily as he would quote ‘Seinfeld’ or ‘Goodfellas’ and was just as comfortable in a suit as he was in his weekend Gator attire. Joe loved coaching his kids in flag football and camping with them and the Indian Princesses and Boy Scouts. He enjoyed stirring things up and then sitting back and quietly enjoying the fevered conversations that inevitably ensued. Late in life he shocked everyone by falling in love with the family’s rescue Chiweenie, Astoria, showering her with an ever-evolving list of nicknames and making up silly songs and stories for her. 

Joe accomplished a lot in his life (achieving Eagle Scout, opening his own practice in his twenties, being an admitted Attorney and Counselor of the United States Supreme Court and winning cases against large companies) but was proudest of his children - they were the driving force behind all that he did. Despite the odds, he was not only able to see them both graduate from high school, but was blessed to see them happily attending his beloved Alma Mater, the University of Florida. 

He is survived by his parents (Janet and Vincent), his wife Marie, their children Anna and Michael, his brother Paul (Missy) and a multitude of family and friends who will always have his voice in their heads and his memory in their hearts. In lieu of flowers he requested that donations be made in his name to the Alan and Cathy Hitchcock Pantry at the University of Florida.

A Mass will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church - to be scheduled in the coming weeks.
