Joseph Patrick Engelhardt, age 55, passed away on January 31, 2024, in Plantation, Florida, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Joe was born on December 2, 1968, in East Patchogue, New York. Joe was a loving husband to Kathleen Komorek. Loving pet dad to his fur babies Snickers and Smokey. Stepdad to Daniel Mogg and Ashley Schanzleh. He is survived by his sisters Kathleen Stone, Christine Palermo, and sister in-law Veronica Kempston. His brothers-in-law Charlie Stone, James Ritchie, and Daniel Ritchie. His niece Elena Palermo and nephews Michael Stone and Daniel Stone (Becca Anton). His mother in-law and father in-law Jackie and Craig Gardnier.

He is predeceased by his parents Michele and Walter Engelhardt, his stepmother Mary Ann Engelhardt, and his brothers Walter and Anthony Engelhardt.

Following his graduation from Bellport High School in 1986 Joe served in the United States Navy on the USS Proteus (AS-19) and the USS Belleau Wood (LHA-3). Joe was blessed to meet wonderful people along his journey in the Navy who became sea brothers/sea mates. We are grateful for his dedication and service to our country where he received numerous medals and ribbons while serving in the Navy.

Joe loved spending time with his dogs, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed cooking (especially his smokers/grilling), boating, diving, fishing, the beach, traveling, and watching sunrises and sunsets. His love for all these things not only brought him personal fulfillment but also created lasting memories with family and friends.

Joe Engelhardt has affected so many lives and will be missed dearly by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a kind heart, amazing sense of humor, infectious smile, and unwavering love for his family & friends which will forever remain ingrained in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.

In memory of Joe’s life and contributions, his family kindly asks that donations be made to PanCan or Animal Rescue.
