John D. Keating, 80, of Plantation Florida died on Tuesday February 28, 2023, after a short illness. 

John was born May 14, 1942, in Baltimore, MD to Sarah and David Keating. After his parents enjoyed one winter in South Florida, they decided to make it their permanent home in 1948. John grew up in Hollywood Florida, later moving to Plantation to raise his family.

He worked as a realtor, broker, and property manager for more than 60 years.  Early in his career he worked for different firms as a realtor before he started his own business, State Realty. Also, early in his career he travelled the world as an appraiser for a floral company always bringing exotic gifts home for his children.  He put all his children and wife to work for State Realty over the years either working in the office or on maintenance of the properties some starting at the age of 12.  He knew the benefits of cheap labor and the tax benefits of paying his children!  Through his example and these experiences his children learned the importance of working hard.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend to many.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (nee Clifford) Keating of 56 years or as John would tell people throughout their marriage, 86 years, three children Colleen (nee Keating) Davis of Fletcher NC. John-David Keating of Hollywood, FL, Kevin Keating, his wife Anne Robin of Nazareth, PA, his grandchildren Liam & Aiden Davis, Lucien and Victor Keating, nieces and nephews, Ann (nee Collins) Wells, her husband Jerry Wells their children Breanna and Jackson, Adam Collins, his wife Nilia Collins and their son Garrett, Clare Clifford, her husband Nick Timkovich and their daughter Tess, sister-in-law Margaret (nee Clifford) Collins, his brother-in-law with whom he had a special bond and shared birthday John Clifford and his wife Susan Clifford.  He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Nicole (nee Carroll) Keating wife of John-David “JD” Keating and his brother-in-law Bob Collins husband of Margaret Collins. 

His family and friends loved him very much and he will be missed deeply.   Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service, Thursday, March 16, 2023, 4:30PM-6:30PM, T. M. Ralph Funeral Homes, 7001 NW 4^th Street, Plantation, FL 33317. Service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
