Listen to Obituary

Jean D. Wolanek, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered eternal rest on January 1, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on July 23, 1937, in the Republic of Panama to Nimrod and Edna Robinson.

Jean was a devoted mother to her son Juan Arango, Eileen and her late husband Wilfred, Eva and her husband Eddie, Dorella and her husband Mike, and Frances and her husband Ricardo.

She was a cherished grandmother to Alexis (Chris), Anastasia, Jasmine (Adeli), Jennifer (Nick), Wilfred (Nicole), Sarah (Connor), Nicholas (Brittany), Sean (Gabby), Brianna (Kennett), Adam (Pamela), Michael, Matthew, and Colin, all of whom brought her immense joy. Jean was also a loving great-grandmother to sixteen great-grandchildren, Ethan, Layna, Zoe, and Camrin (Alexis and Chris); Kristinie, Elijah, Kelie, and Bryson (Anastasia); Destiny and the late Xavier (Jasmine and Adeli); Harrison (Jennifer and Nick); Theodore (Wilfred and Nicole); Leon, Eva, and Vivienne (Sarah and Connor); Simon (Adam and Pamela). Jean will also be fondly remembered by dozens of cousins, colleagues, and friends who loved and adored her.

Faith and family were at the center of Jean’s life. She lived her life with a servant’s heart, reflecting God’s love through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others. Jean had a special love for children and found her greatest purpose in caring for her family and those in need. A caregiver by nature, she volunteered her time and shared compassion freely, touching countless lives along the way.

Jean’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. While she will be deeply missed, they find comfort in knowing she is reunited in heaven with her parents, Nimrod and Edna Robinson.

Jean spent her time on Earth devoted to making the lives of others better with her compassion and kindness; in her working years she had a career as a dedicated nurse at Parkchester General Hospital, Odd Fellows Nursing Home, and Workman’s Circle in New York. Working multiple jobs, she spent her time outside of work dedicated to her family and faith. A devout Catholic she always poured her love and soul into her church communities, and when she retired from nursing and moved to Sunrise, Florida she became a sacristan at All Saints Church. Jean was essential to the everyday operations at All Saints as well as being a heart of the community. A leader and guiding light, she was beloved by those who were blessed enough to know her.

Jean lived a life guided by faith, always believing in the power of prayer and the intercession of saints, especially St. Jude, the helper of the hopeless. Her life and spirit are a reflection of the hope, resilience and courage that St. Jude embodies. Jean lived joyfully, always put her trust in God, and created a life that was a miracle to all she knew and loved.

“Plant your prayers in faith, and watch miracles bloom.” - St. Jude Thaddeus
