Harold D. Hensley, a devoted family man, proud Marine veteran, and esteemed businessman, passed away on May 24, 2026, in Davie, Florida. Born on June 19, 1947, in Coal Mountain, West Virginia, Harold’s life was a testament to dedication, service, and unwavering love for those around him.
Raised in Lowell, Kentucky, Harold's formative years were marked by active participation in his community and school. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1965, where he played football and was a cherished member of the school choir. His commitment to serving others led him to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Sergeant from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. During his distinguished military service, he was responsible for maintaining helicopters and played a crucial role in numerous rescue missions. His time in the Marines shaped a legacy of discipline, courage, and resilience that he carried throughout his life.
Following his military service, Harold channeled his skills and passion into the aviation industry, becoming a certified Aircraft Mechanic. For over four decades, he was the owner, boss, teacher, and mentor at H&R Aviation, proudly serving as the Gulfstream distributor. His leadership and dedication made a profound impact, fostering a supportive environment for all who worked alongside him. Harold’s proudest accomplishments included rising from humble beginnings as the son of coal miners to establishing a successful business and being recognized as a respected figure in his field.
Harold’s personal life was rich and full. He was deeply loved by his wife Diane, his son Robert, daughter Melissa, and son-in-law Jay. He took immense pride in his grandchildren Samantha, Jonathan, and Aiden. Known for being “always there for everyone,” Harold’s warmth and generosity touched the lives of many. Even when exhibiting his occasional grumpiness, his family and friends knew beneath it was a heart of gold. He delighted in simple pleasures such as fishing and playing cards, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
Harold’s character and spirit, marked by his unconditional love for family and friends, his pride as a Marine and American, and his unwavering zest for life, will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he influenced, both personally and professionally.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on June 20, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Saint Bonaventure Catholic Church, located at 1301 SW 136th Ave, Davie, FL 33325. This gathering will be a time for all who knew Harold to reflect on his remarkable life and the enduring impact he made.
