Gonzalo Jesus Cardona, 79, of Plantation, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, and children on March 23, 2022 after a tough battle with cancer.

Gonzalo was born on January 21, 1943, to Miguel Angel Cardona and Ana Tulia Mejia de Cardona in Rionegro, Colombia. He grew up in a close-knit family with twelve remarkable brothers and sisters. After graduating from high school and later earning his License in Marriage and Family Therapy, he went on to live a full life.

When he was a teenager he met his lifelong love, Lucia Echeverri Cardona, and they married in 1967, going on to have two wonderful children, Mauricio Cardona, and Monica Cardona-Matthews, four sweet grandchildren, Ashley Lynch, Devin Matthews, Gavin Matthews, and Grace Matthews, and two amazing great grandchildren, Wyatt Lynch and Olivia Lynch. He is also survived by ten loving brothers and sisters, twenty adoring nieces and nephews and five caring brother in-laws and sister in-laws.

Gonzalo had a drive and an enthusiasm for life. He was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of his family, and always tried his best to support them.

Anyone who knew Gonzalo knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He was adored by all who met him. He was kind, funny, loyal, hardworking, sweet, caring, and had a heart of gold. He had a charismatic personality and was always smiling and making people laugh.

Family and friends will be received, Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, 1:30 p.m., T. M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/Weston. Funeral Service will follow, 2:00 p.m. The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to the funeral home.
