Gerardo A Hoyos

June 2, 1928 — December 30, 2023

Weston

Gerardo A. Hoyos, beloved husband and our beloved father and grandfather passed away on December 30, 2023 in Weston, Florida, their home for more than 30 years. He was born in Filandia, a small town in Colombia.  He grew up among green, rolling mountains in one of the most beautiful places on earth.  As an adult he moved to Pereira where he met and married his wife, Olga Hoyos Sepulveda. They were married for over 70 years until his passing at age 95. He is survived by his wife Olga, and his 6 children and grandchildren.

He moved to New york in the late 60's where he worked hard as an auto mechanic.  He later moved the whole family to New York where he planted the seed of a new generation.  This seed has bloomed into a large beautiful family.  His hobbies included fixing cars and fishing. He would spend hours fishing on a lake in the many places of New York or by his home in Weston. He especially loved sharing his passion for fishing with his beloved family who visited. Overall, his main hobby was to spend time with his family.  Every weekend growing up, he would pack the station wagon and take the family on a trip to Bear Mountain, Delaware River, or Sunken Meadow park.  A fond memory for us all.

After many years of hard work in New York, our father and mother moved to Weston, Florida where he spent the rest of his life. He lived a long happy life and watched his roots expand into many families that continue to love and admire him. We will miss him profoundly but mostly will remember his beautiful smile and happy demeanor.
