Col. Gerald T. Morris, USAF Ret. of Plantation, Florida filed his final flight plan with no refueling stops to heaven on 29 June 2025. Jerry, was born on 23 February 1934 in Superior, Wisconsin. He was the son of Thomas and Lucille Morris who preceded him in death. His two sisters, Coleen and Donna, also preceded him in death.
A graduate of University of Wisconsin, American University and the Industrial College of the Armed Services. He and Ardie were married in Lincoln, Nebraska on 4 August 1962. In 1956 , Jerry was commissioned as a 2nd LT into the USAF, and he completed multi engine pilot training. In 1960 he became a B-47 Aircraft Commander. He served at SHAPE Headquarter in Belgium, Lincoln, Nebraska, Vietnam, San Antonio, Texas and three tours at the Pentagon. During his tours at the Pentagon he became a class one handball player, every morning at 0600 tennis was his game and he also developed a very competitive golf game. During his first tour at the Pentagon, he was selected with 250 others for the space program. He made the cut down to the final 12; quite an achievement as a First LT.
Retiring from the Air Force in 1981 after serving 25 years, Jerry immediately assumed the position of Executive Director of Smart Munitions for AVCO/Textron at the Pentagon. His 2nd career spanned 20 years. Jerry was an active member of Army-Navy Country Club and Washington Golf and Country
Jerry found paradise in South Florida. He and Ardie became permanent residents after his second career. He often played golf 6 days a week at his second home, Lago Mar Country Club. A celebration of his life will be held at Lago Mar Country Club on 23 August 2025, 1300. Contributions in Jerry's name may be made to Air Force Aid Society, Suite 809, 1500 Crystal Dr., Arlington, VA 22202. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
