Davie

Francesca Smyth, born on August 25, 1954, in New York, passed peacefully on September 8, 2024, in Silver Spring, Maryland. She is remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend and a beloved and dedicated member of the community.

Francesca's life was marked by her unwavering loyalty, commitment, and love for her family, particularly her two children. Francesca is survived by her daughter, Diana Litton (Will), and her son, Patrick Smyth (Leslie). She is also survived by her sister Cathy and brother Mario; and grandchildren Claire, Brady, William, and Patrick. Her fierce love for her family was unmistakable. Francesca's kind, nurturing, and warmhearted spirit will be cherished by her entire family and the countless friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Francesca was preceded in death by her husband Patrick, mother Maria, and father Joseph.

Francesca was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y and attended Brooklyn College. Upon graduating and embarking on a new career, she met and fell in love with Patrick, and together they raised their family in New York, Delaware, Paris, and South Florida. Francesca believed motherhood was her greatest gift, her greatest joy, and it is what she excelled at above all else. She was unfailingly compassionate, thoughtful, and loving. She was passionate about building family relationships and keeping those connections strong.

Francesca was an avid and talented crafter, and enjoyed creating stained glass, quilting, embroidery, and a great number of other projects for her family, friends, and community. She was immediately embraced by her local community in Davie and was a dedicated member of several local groups. Francesca served as Treasurer for the Forest Ridge Women's Club and played a significant role in planning many community events including the Spring Fling, Lighting of the Holiday Lights, and the Holly Day Parade. She was also a member of Soroptimist International of Davie, creating beautiful raffle gift baskets to raise funds programs that fostered social and economic empowerment for local women. Francesca was also an active member of her neighborhood Peachtree Moms group and was blessed to have built an unbelievably strong "village" who offered each other steadfast support, encouragement, and friendship.
