Faith Callaghan, born on January 31, 1934, was called home to the Lord on July 7, 2026. She lived a life defined by devotion, compassion, and a steady, unwavering trust in God. Faith now joins in eternal peace her beloved husband, John (“Jackie”) Patrick Callaghan; her parents, Herbert Joseph Kenny and Maureen Keelty Kenny Dean; her stepfather, George Dean; her in‑laws, Elizabeth and Thomas Callaghan; and her siblings, Dennis, Brian, Maureen Elizabeth Kenny ( Beanie), and stepsister Terry Dean. Her legacy continues through her sons John, Brian, Thomas, and Kevin, and their wives Monica, Emily, Brigitte, and Razia, each of whom she welcomed with love. She cherished her grandchildren — Christina, Kathryn, Jessica, John, Kaitlin, Jennifer, Patrick, and Shawn — and delighted in her great‑grandchildren Alexis, Ava Faith, and Gemma, who brought her joy and renewed wonder.
Faith grew up in Woodhaven, Queens, New York. She attended Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic School. She attended a convent boarding high school in Eastern Long Island. Due to her father's long illness and early death, Faith returned home to live with and support her mom, and beloved grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Keelty. During these years, Faith continued to be a member of Saint Thomas the Aposle parish and was an accomplished soloist and member of the Saint Thomas the Apostle Choir.
Faith worked at Western Electric in New York City until beginning her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her four sons and husband 'Jack.' These years were spent in Woodhaven and Baldwin, New York, and later in Sunrise, Florida. Faith returned to the workforce in the 1970's where she was a valuable member of the Plantation, Florida American Express team.
Faith's' true vocation was ministry. She devoted herself to religious education. Faith was a catechist for many years at Saint Christopher Catholic Church in Baldwin, New York, Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Sunrise, Florida, and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Coral Springs, Florida. Faith guided children in their faith with patience, gentleness, and devotion. Faith also contributed her beautiful voice to music ministry, joyfully leading parishoners during liturgies at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Sunrise. Faith lived her faith, shared it, and gave it freely.
Faith was a living witness of Christ's love to her family, friends, and community. Just as a lighthouse stands steady when the night grows dark and the waves rise high, Faith modeled a steadfast trust in God. When those around her faced storms of their own, she was a beacon — pointing toward the safe harbor of God’s love and reminding us that none of us navigate this life alone. Her light guided, her love anchored, and her faith illuminated.
We pray: “For Faith, who truly reflected the light of Christ to all who knew her, that God may now welcome her into the eternal harbor of peace, we pray to the Lord.” “For all of us who mourn, that we may be guided by the light of Faith’s memory and the comfort of the Holy Spirit during our time of grief, we pray to the Lord.”
May her memory be a blessing, and may her song continue in the hearts of all who loved her.
Faith had many charities and in lieu of flowers please donate to St. Labre Indian School.
