Listen to Obituary

With profound respect and enduring affection, we give thanks for the life of Edwina Ann Fallon, known to many as Edie, who departed this world on July 2, 2026, in Orange, Virginia. Born on July 29, 1934, in New York to Edward and Lucille Collins, Edwina’s ninety-one years were marked by devotion, gentleness, and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible imprint on all who knew her.

From her earliest days, Edwina embodied a quiet strength and an independent spirit. She was soft spoken and gentle, yet resolute in her convictions—a woman whose life was fundamentally shaped by her profound devotion to the Roman Catholic faith. It was said of her that she could recite the Baltimore Catechism by heart, a testament not only to her memory but also to the depth of her spiritual foundation.

Edwina’s journey of service began in Miami, where she dedicated herself to the Archdiocese of Miami for forty-six remarkable years. Originally joining as a physical education teacher at St. James Catholic School, her gifts soon led her to a pivotal role with the Archdiocese of Miami Health Plan Trust. Edwina’s work there was nothing short of extraordinary, as she managed the claims of the Priest Plan with great diligence and compassion, extending her care to all the priests of the area. Throughout her tenure, she served all the archbishops and priests of the Diocese, including those who had retired. She became a pillar of support and wisdom within the ecclesiastical community.  Though urged to rest, Edwina reluctantly retired only in 2020, a mark of both her dedication and her love for those she served.

Beyond her professional achievements, Edwina was defined by her passions and pursuits. She enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley—a love that brought her joy and a touch of carefree delight. An avid collector of many things, she found lasting pleasure in her trove of vintage Coca Cola memorabilia, each cherished item a symbol of her appreciation for the simple treasures in life. But above and beyond everything else, she was passionate and devoted fan to her beloved " Fighting Irish"  and cheered the  Notre Dame Football team to victory.

After many years in Miami, Edwina made her home in Plantation, Florida. There, she worshipped faithfully at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, her steadfast spirit shining brightly within her community.  She served as a eucharistic minister at the Saturday vigil masses for many years.  As her health waned in her later years, Edwina relocated to Virginia to be closer to her daughter and found care and comfort at Dogwood Village in Orange, where she spent her final days.

Edwina’s greatest pride, however, lay in her family. Her devotion was unwavering and her care was exhibited in different ways.  She is survived by her loving children, John Christopher (Georgianna) Fornash, Rochelle Echevarria, and George Fornash,  Her legacy touched the lives of her grandchildren: Jennifer Crudele, Alexis Sanzotta, George Fornash, and Katherine Fornash, and her 5 great grandchildren... She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Mary Russo and Imelda Hankins. In the sorrow of farewell, they find comfort in recalling her laughter, guidance, and  love. Edwina is predeceased by her cherished parents, Edward and Lucille Collins.

Friends and family are invited to honor Edwina’s life and bid her a faithful farewell. Visitation will be held on July 19, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at T. M.
