Dorothy M. Dillon, a dedicated and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 16, 2026, at Saint John’s Rehab in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Born on January 22, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, Dorothy lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and service.
A woman of strong conviction and independence, Dorothy resided on her own until shortly before her passing. She and her late husband, Robert J. Dillon, Sr. whom she married and shared over 60 years with until his death in 2009, were known for their active participation as lectors at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Chicago. Following their relocation to Florida in 1974, Dorothy continued her spiritual journey attending Mary Help of Christians and Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
Dorothy’s life was enriched by her family, who survive her and carry forward her legacy. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert J. Dillon, Jr. and Victor G. Dillon; her daughter, Janet Dwyer, along with Timothy; and her son-in-law, Evan Miller. Her grandchildren Lauren, Amy, Joshua, Lisa, Benjamin, and Sean, as well as her great-grandchildren Lainey, Emily, Raylee, Kennedy, Finnegan, Dominik, and Taryn, all hold her memory in high regard.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Dillon, Sr, her parents Victor and Magdalene Prokopenski, her siblings Pauline Krauledis Heiderman, Madeline McCorkle, and Lee J. Kowalski, her daughter Norma Miller, and her daughter-in-law Linda L. Dillon.
The family invites friends and community members to honor Dorothy’s life and legacy. Visitation will be held on May 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, located at 7001 NW 4th St, Plantation, FL 33317. A Mass celebrating her life will take place on May 27, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, 1400 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. Her burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, beginning at 11:45 a.m.
Dorothy Dillon’s enduring spirit, commitment to her faith, and deep love for her family will remain a guiding light for those who knew her. Her contributions, both in her community and within her family, stand as a testament to a life well lived.
