Dominic C Colosimo

Dominic C. Colosimo of Planation, FL passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023 at the age of 88.

Dominic was born on May 4, 1935 in Summit, NJ to Antoinette (nee Constantino) and Fidelis "Fiddie" Colosimo. After graduating from Summit High School in 1954, he became the Manager of Acme Supermarkets and later opened up his own deli in Plainfield, NJ. He was also a member of the Millburn Fire Department before moving to Florida in 1963.

Dominic went on to become the owner of a liquor store and a wine bar in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Shortly thereafter, he discovered his real passion was for Landscape design. He spent the next 20+ years as the owner and operator of Nu-Kirk Lawn Service where his natural talents and artestry came to life. In more recent years, Dominic worked part time as a gardener for the Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club where he helped to cultivate ideas to sustain the beauty of the various plants and gardens around the facility. After retiring, Dominic enjoyed golf, cars, watching movies & gardening in the French Quarters where he lived. He had great pride for his family especially all his nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved to visit with on his trips back to NJ.

Dominic was a loving brother and uncle. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Kouras and her husband Nicholas G.; his cherished nephew and niece, Nicholas S. and his wife Diana and Suzanne Botvinis and her husband Mark; his great nieces and nephews, who have a special place in his heart, Ava, Alexis, Sophia, Matthew and Ashley. Dominic is also survived by many cousins and friends. He will be missed dearly.

Dominic will be fondly remembered for his charismatic personality, big smile and his joy of helping others. During the holidays, he would volunteer his time at the local food pantry and was a generous supporter of many other local charities. He was always a fixture at many local establishments in Plantation, FL and made lots of friends everywhere he went.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, September 24th from 4-6pm at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 25th at 11am at St. Teresa's Cemetery, 136 Passaic Ave., Summit, NJ.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Caring Professional Health Care of Plantation, FL, Caring Village Assisting Living of Margate, FL and Vitas Health of Florida for their unwavering compassion and support during this past year.
