Daphne Marguerite Robertson (née Hall) was born on March 31, 1926, in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica, West Indies. She lived a long, purposeful life defined by service, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She passed away peacefully at her home in Tamarac, Florida, on January 10, 2026, with her daughters and caregiver at her side, surrounded by love.
Daphne attended Excelsior College in Kingston, Jamaica, and subsequently pursued her nursing education at Kingston Public Hospital. After completing her training, she began her nursing career at Spalding Hospital in Clarendon, where she met her future husband, Frank Robertson (1920-2006). They were married in 1950 and later emigrated to the United States, where they built their life and raised their family.
Daphne devoted her professional life to caring for others, enjoying a long and distinguished career as a labor and delivery nurse. She retired in 1991 as Supervisor of Nursing at Interfaith Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. While she took great pride in her work, her love for nursing was exceeded only by her devotion to her husband and family.
She was a loving mother to five children: Diane Robertson (North Carolina); Paul Robertson (Long Island, New York); Elizabeth Burnett (New York City); Patricia Officer (Tamarac, Florida), and Suzanne Newman (Plantation, Florida).
She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a brother, and two sisters in Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews across the United States, Jamaica, Canada, and England.
Daphne’s love for family and friends was deeply rooted in her faith, her church, and her lifelong commitment to service. She cherished the Cursillo movement and especially loved its symbol—the colorful butterfly, representing transformation and new life.
In keeping with Daphne’s joyful spirit and love of beauty, the family invites attendees to wear uplifting colors as they celebrate her homegoing.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made in her name to:Food For The Poor; an out reach mission of St.Benedict’s; or the St.Benedict’s Building Fund.
Services will be held on January 31 at St. Benedict’s. Details can be found at tmralph.com
