Charlotte Stupka

September 1, 1932 — November 20, 2021

Charlotte (Char) Ann Stupka, of Plantation Florida, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday November 20, 2021 at Harbor Chase of Coral Springs. She was 89 years old. Charlotte was preceded in death by William (Bill) Stupka, her beloved husband, 6 months to the day before her death. Bill and Char were married for 66 years. Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Nancy Miller and Connie Sokolowski (Ric) and grandchildren Melanie Sokolowski and Andrew (Drew) Miller. Charlotte grew up in Berwyn, Illinois and was the daughter of Charles and Anna Pechman. She studied nursing at the University of Illinois-Chicago. While living in Illinois, Charlotte worked as a nurse then later as a substitute teacher at MacArthur Elementary School in Hoffman Estates, where she was always in high demand. After the family moved to Florida, Charlotte used her nursing knowledge by managing the medical billing for a pulmonary specialist then later a nephrology center. In her free time and after retirement, Charlotte spent time serving her community. She immediately joined the Planation Welcome Wagon upon the family’s move to Florida in 1973 and later joined the Plantation Newcomers and the Friends of the Helen B. Hoffman Library where she remained an active member of both organizations. Being that Bill and Charlotte’s ancestors immigrated from Czechoslovakia, they both enjoyed their membership to the Czech-Slovak Cultural Club of North Miami for many years. Charlotte also especially enjoyed their travels to the Czech Republic, other parts of Europe and Branson, Missouri with club members. However, her very favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed Sunday football games, birthday & holiday parties and vacationing with family, either with Nancy in Big Pine Key and Ingleby, Pennsylvania, or with Connie in Burnsville, North Carolina. Those were the times where she could enjoy her grandchildren and spend hours working on crossword and word search puzzles. The family respectfully asks that donations be made in Charlotte’s name to the Friends of the Helen B. Hoffman Library by calling 954-797-2140.
