Charles Lechner, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away on September 21, 2025, in Sunrise, Florida. Born on February 28, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for those who were fortunate enough to know him.
For over 30 years, Charles dedicated himself to his career as a machinist for Bloom Engineering.
A proud veteran, Charles served in the United States Air Force for four years and continued his commitment to serve in the Air National Guard for an additional ten years. His service reflected his deep love for his country and his dedication to ensuring the freedom that all Americans cherish.
Charles was a man of distinct character and spirit. Loved by all, he was known for his kindness and dry sense of humor. He had a special affinity for animals, often nurturing a variety of pets throughout his life, creating a loving home for them. His passion for desserts was equally renowned, as he could often be found indulging in sweet treats, especially chocolate cake.
Charles leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathleen Lechner, who was the cornerstone of his life. He also leaves behind Michael Lechner (son), Keith (Damian) Lechner (son), Karen Henderson (daughter-in-law), and Rashad Ali (grandson), who carry forth his legacy. His memory will remain alive in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his dear mother, Viola Liberator, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
The visitation for Charles will be held on October 5, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM at T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home in Plantation, Florida. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday 11:00AM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest 1;00 PM at South Florida National Cemetery on October 6, 2025, allowing friends and family the opportunity to honor his memory and celebrate a truly well-lived life.
