Carol Ann Duffy

Carol Ann Duffy, a beloved registered nurse, passed away peacefully at her home on May 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on August 28, 1937, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Carol Ann dedicated her life to caring for others, exemplifying the compassion and commitment that defined her career in nursing.

Throughout her life, Carol Ann found joy in the simple pleasures, such as watching cardinals, and she expressed her vibrant spirit through her favorite color, red.  She will be remembered not only for her professional achievements, but also her unwavering love and support for her family.

Carol Ann is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Duffy, Sr., her brother Joseph Kenney, and her children: Barbara R. Duffy, Joseph D. Duffy, Jr., Kevin Higginbotham, Colleen D. Garrett, and Patrick J. Duffy. She was also a proud grandmother to Haly Baleotis, Cayla Duffy, Chloe Duffy, Karen Garrett, Mary Garrett, and Steven Aftanis, and a great-grandmother to Ananda and Aubrey Aftanis. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her daughters-in-law, Lucy Silva and Kelly Bierfreund, as well as her son-in-law, Michael Garrett, and grandson-in-law, Kyle Koster.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn and Joseph Kenney, her beloved sons Michael Kenney, Neal Higginbotham, and Russell Higginbotham, along with her daughter Suzette Aftanis. The absence of these dear loved ones is felt deeply, yet their memories continue to inspire those who remain.

Family and friends are invited to honor Carol Ann's life during the visitation on May 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the T. M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, located at 7001 NW 4th St, Plantation, FL 33317. A Mass in her honor will take place on May 8, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Saint Gregory The Great Catholic Church, 200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324, followed by burial at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery at 1:00 PM, located at 1500 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.

Carol Ann Duffy's legacy as a devoted nurse, cherished family member, and friend will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
