Betty Ray Chandler Haywood, 97 of Plantation Florida, passed peacefully on September 2, 2026. She was born November 6, 1928 in Lewisburg Alabama to Raymond and Juanita Chandler. After moving to Mulga, Alabama, she graduated from Minor High School, where she met the love of her life, George Haywood, whom she called "Bud". They married on June 21, 1949, eventually relocating to Plantation, Florida in 1958, where they lived, worked and raised their children. George and Betty celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers George and Dan Chandler. She is survived by her beloved children Michael Haywood, Dianne (John) Sanzari, Stephanie (Ken) Alton, and Michele (Dana ) Carter. Betty was Meema (Mimi ) to Jason and Chandler Haywood, John and Chandler Sanzari, Brian Dow (Tamilla) and Jennifer Dow Himstedt (Jason), Timothy and Mallory Alton, Steven Carter(Heather) and Bradley Carter(Kate), and Tia Carter Geisler(Michael). Betty was also blessed with 13+ great grandchildren including Sophie and Olivia Sanzari, Aiden and Autumn Dow, Addison Himstedt, Walker, Hadley,and Wyatt Carter, Mercy and Emerald Carter, Jacob,Wilder and Payton Geisler, She was an honorary member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Betty lived a long, full and blessed life. As she is excited to join her loved ones awaiting her in Heaven, here, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty was an avid gardener, animal and nature lover. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree, hanging a bird feeder, or nurturing an animal in her memory. Additionally, donations can be made to Continuum Care of Florida, www.continuumflorida.com in appreciation to Betty's Hospice Care Team for their amazing care and loving support throughout the past several years.
