Augustine Semeria

December 26, 1934 — September 21, 2024

New Smyrna Beach

Augustine “Augie” Semeria peacefully passed away at his home in New Smyrna Beach, FL, where he had recently relocated to be closer to family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Nellie Semeria, along with his daughters: Michele Dreger and partner Frank Devine, Susan Bellantoni and son-in-law Rocco Bellantoni both of New Smyrna, Madelene Cheney and son-in-law Michael Cheney of Hanover, MA, and MaryAnne Shemitz and son-in-law Mark Shemitz. He was preceded in death by his daughters Diane Straffi and Helen Wolko. Augie was truly blessed, leaving behind a legacy of love with 8 grandchildren Maria, Jennifer, Aurora, Stephen, Natalie, Louis, Semeria, Michaela and 10 great-grandchildren.

Known as “The Life of The Party” for his vibrant spirit and ability to light up any gathering, Augie spent his recent days enjoying life at the boatyard with neighbors, dancing with Nellie at the local senior center, playing Pokeno, and cheering on his beloved New York sports teams—the Mets and Jets—every Sunday alongside his son-in-law and grandchildren. He cherished moments spent together, whether it was sitting on a stoop in Brooklyn or lounging under the palm trees in Florida.

A former resident of Weston, Florida, Augie relished many events and trips with his wife and friends from the Italian American Club and proudly served as president of his condo association and the Bonaventure Town Center. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, he retired as a letter carrier from the post office in 1992 before embarking on his new adventure in Weston.

Augustine Semeria will be remembered for his warmth, joy, and the love he shared with family and friends. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
